Cooking Dinner

I have the urge to cook my own dinner today. So again, I drop by Cold Storage at CompassPoint to buy my ingredients. As I pass by the liquor and alcohol section, I took up a bottle of Guinness as I have never tried drinking stout before, thought of giving a try today. Anyway, that is beside the point as I will drink it at the end of the day.

Like I said, it seems that I am having flashback of my days in Gurnee whereby I must do my own apartment groceries shopping at Dominicks and prepare dinner for Fanjie and myself. I must admit that I enjoy those days very much, I like to cook actually and with Fanjie who is very health conscious, I manage to whip up some healthy meals for the two of us back then and I managed to lose some weight also.

Anyway, I haven’t really get my kitchen all ready up in terms of utensils and garnishing, so I decided to cook a simple meal by boiling only. I gotten some broccoli, crab sticks and hot dogs (and also a bottle of stout) and head for home to get prepared.

I washed up the vegetables and cut them into smaller pieces and put them in the boiling pot. I also took a few prawns out of the freezer, together with the hot dogs and crab sticks, I put it inside same pot to boil. In within minutes, a simple meal is ready.

(Apologies for the greenish cast in the photo, I didn't set the correct White Balance :P)

After the meal, I find that the broccoli is a bit too plain to my liking as compared to back then in Gurnee whereby I will usually stir fry in with some garlic and oyster sauce. Nevermind, I will try harder next time.

(Note to self : One portion of the broccoli is more than enough for 1 person, should have cut it into half instead and also reduce the number of crab sticks from 4 to 2)
