Dempsey Road

Was at Dempsey Road Area this morning to check out the claim about Istana Woodneuk entry point been barricaded, so drop by Dempsey Road to do some shooting after the investigation.

I was very surprised how that place had developed since our last outing there was in March this year. Now it got quite a few eateries opening up there. There are a lot of cars and people... Some of the shots taken during the last outing cannot be re-captured again as the place has really change. Can't help but wonder to myself, where is the peaceful and quiet Dempsey Road that I once knew. Must admit that I am really disappointed as it has lost its peaceful and quiet charm...

Anyway, just to share a few shots taken today. Enjoy.

Finally, the wait is over... After weeks of revision...

My results for the first semester of the Master of Engineering (MEng) is finally out today. I got an A+ for my L6002 Quantitative Methods for Logistic Analysis and an A for my M6141 Quality Engineering. I am very happy with the results, but at the same time, a bit disappointed with my performance for my Quality Engineering.

I mean I spend quite a lot of my time on it but it is not getting what I wanted. Maybe it is the project that pull me down. Oh well, at least the GPA for both A and A+ are at 5.00 points, so still ok for me.

Anyway, I got to work harder for this coming semester to maintain my clean sheet so that I can go to overseas university. Wish me luck.

Dry Season, Dry Spell

Well, the hot and dry season is here to stay, in fact, it started this week I believe. It is so hot and warm recently that it is quite difficult to sleep at night. Besides that, I am suffering from a bad sunburn around my neck as I was out exploring Serangoon River yesterday.

Talk about dry spell, it is not weather-related (or maybe it could be... hmm...) but more like lack of motivation and inspiration, no creativity... Argh... For the last 2 days (yesterday and today), I find that I have very little motivation or inspiration in my photography (well, work-wise too, geez...).

After getting the shots, as I was home doing some post-processing, I found that my photos just lack of something... the feel, it is missing. The photos just lack that finishing touch and that punch to reach out to me (and my viewers too).

Maybe the hot weather is causing me the discomfort as I was perspiring profusely during the shoot and it just drain me off my mood. For maybe it is a period of dry spell for me and I need to observe and think how to break from this and progress to the next stage.

Oh well, maybe I just got to wait and see... Hope that thing will turn for the better.

IR @ Serangoon River (26th May) and Chinatown (27th May)

Haven't been taking any photos since last week, so I decided to move my lazy butt and go out over the weekend and start taking photos. Some how the standard of the shots are not really up to my standard but I will just share a few.
Enjoy.

Ben's and Chye Lai's Birthday Celebration @ Settlers Cafe (Part 2?)

Was about to sleep but just got some inspiration to do some more photoshop on those photos taken during Ben's and Chye Lai's birthday to make it more funny and memorable. Hope that they will enjoy it. Anyway, enjoy... (A pity Chee Ming was not around, he will not be "spare" too. heh heh heh...)

Ben's and Chye Lai's Birthday Celebration @ Settlers Cafe

(Before anything, I must first apologize to Ben, Charlotte, Chye Lai, Alvin, Jamie, Lawrence, Serena and Jason for such a backdated post. Should have process the photos and post them online asap, but I have been a bit tied up these days. Anyway, here are the photos take last Friday. Hehe...)

Last Friday, I met up with my uni friends to celebrate Ben's and Chye Lai's birthday at Settlers Cafe. We had dinner at Hans which is just opposite One George Street (Actually, we wanted to try the House Of Peranakan at One George Building but they closed the resturant at Level 5) and then we went to Settlers Cafe to chill out. Just to share some of the photos taken that day. Hahaha... Enjoy.

WHAT!!!... No PHOTOS???

Apologies to all. Haven’t been shooting for the whole of last week…

Hmm… this is very unlike me.

Well, I am taking a short break as I look really tan now and also, I was quite tied up last week. You see, I got to work on last Saturday for my school’s Admission High Tea and on Sunday, I went to Ikea to get myself a bookshelf to store all my photography books. I just gotten over $200 of books (for those who know me well will know that I am a book lover, I got lots of books at home). After that, I got to go back home to keep my dad company as my mum is out to China for a tour. Anyway, the weather is also very cranky these days as it is always sunny at one moment but cloudy and gloomy the next second.

Alrightly, hope got more chances to shoot this week. In the meantime, sorry if you have to put up with my thoughts, reflection and rants once a while on my blog as I have been reflecting on things these days during my free time about… things, yah, things. Hahaha…

Man... SICK again

Yah, I got hit with the flu virus again. Argh... I hate to be sick. I was sneezing quite badly earlier and I know that I am down with a flu already. Got to call off my plan for a gym session today to avoid getting worse.

Think I will go back and sleep early today...

A Date with Corrinne and Corrinne May in Chicago

Hooray, Corrinne May is coming to Singapore on 3rd August to have her concert at NUS UCC again. This time is for the release of her new album "Beautiful Seed" I will really look forward to that.

So I will set 3rd August aside just to attend to her concert. In the meantime, I guess I will wait patiently for her new album release.

Corrinne did a performance recently at Uncommon Ground in Chicago and here is a Youtube clip.

Man, how I wish I was still in Chicago...

She also performed at Northwestern University in Illinois. Here is the album taken by John Ng during the concert.

What Classic Movie are You?

Happened to see this test on Ian's and Theo's Blog, so I decided to give it a try. And the result is...

Schindler's List??? O_o Hmm...
I never watched Schindler's List before, so I got no comment on it. Hahaha...
Anyway, hope that Theo can try the Famous Leader quiz to see which famous leader he is. I was very much surpised that Ian got JFK. Hahaha...

Maybe I should change my style of answer and see what I end up with. :P

Flying Tree Snake!!!

Just did a check on the snake I saw yesterday morning. It belongs to a family of Flying Tree Snake (Chrysopelea spp.). As from this website, it says "Long, thin; mildly venomous"...

Thankfully I was quite a distant away from it, but it were to throw itself to me, I really don't know what to do. Scary...

Man, I need a good long telephoto lens. Hehehe...

For those who don't know, I love nature and wildlife since young, but snakes are something that I scare most. But over the years, I think my passion for nature and photography had helped me to overcome this fear. How I long to invest on a good telephoto lens so that I can do Nature and Wildlife Photography. Hmm...

Paradise Tree Snake and IR Shoot @ Changi BoardWalk

I was out today for a recce trip at Changi Boardwalk to survey if this location is good for holding an IR Outing, you can find out more details of the recce trip here (Warning: Lots of images to load).

I never encounter snakes in the wild before (zoo not counted) but very unexpectedly, today was my first encounter with one. It is not like I was face to face with it but I was around 2m or so away from it. It didn't know the ID of this snake but I did a check on Clubsnap and found out that it is a Paradise Tree Snake. Anyway, I managed to capture a few shots of it feasting on a gecko. (Yucks...) Till now, I am not sure if this snake is poisonous or not???

Anyway, with that aside, just to share a few IR shots taken today at the Boardwalk. This is a very nice place, I will be back again for either an early morning shoot or night shoot. Enjoy.

Chasing the Storm

Was on my way home when I observed flashes of lightning in the gloomy sky along the coast of Malaysia. So I hurried back home to set up my equipment by my window and try capturing the storm.

It is not easy as we cannot anticipate when and where is the lightning going to strike next. So I set my shutter release remote to time interval mode and start chasing after the storm... Enjoy...
