Sometimes in Life...

Sometimes in life,
you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life
just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh
until you can't stop;
Someone who lend you a shoulder to cry on.
Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you
that there really is an unlocked door
just waiting for you to open it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me... I am still waiting for that someone...

Words of Wisdom (Friends for Life)

This analogy is sort of quite the same as the famous bus analogy that I loved to share with all. Take your time and read through.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PEOPLE COME INTO YOUR LIFE FOR A REASON:

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
(or for you to offer the same FOR or to THEM).
They may seem like a godsend and they are..
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real.
But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships
and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

A Lesson In Life

Things in Life happen for a reason, no matter good or bad, they serve as lesson for us. People come into our life and each has a role to play. Either they are just passengers on your bus who will alight when they reach their destination or they are true friends who will stay on your bus throughout, be thankful to them for they had taught us about life and share that moment with us, no matter how brief it might be.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, to teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be - your roommate, neighbor, professor, long lost friend, lover or even a complete stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you and at the time they may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles, you would have never realized your potential, strength, will power or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity - all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. Safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life and the successes and downfalls you experience - they are the ones who create who you are. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. Those lessons are the hardest and probably the most important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart to. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either. You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

"People are like tea bags - you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."

Friends

A sweet little poem about Friends. Enjoy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't give solutions
to all life's problems, doubts or fear.
But I can listen to you
and together we will search for answers.

I can't change your past
with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with it's untold stories.
But I can be there now
when you need me to care.

I can't keep your
feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand
that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys,
triumps, successes,
and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life
are not mine to make,
nor to judge;
I can only support you,
encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from
falling away from friendship,
from your values,
from me.
I can only pray for you,
talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries
which I have determined for you,
but I can give you the room to change,
room to grow, room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart
from breaking and hurting,
but I can cry with you
and help you pick up
the pieces and put them
back in place.

I can't tell you who you are
I can only love you
and be your friend.

Only Time will Tell

This is my favourite story about Love, Relationship and Time. I always love this meaningful story because some time I felt like I am old man Time.

Just like colours to a dog's eye (For those who don't know, dogs can't see colour, they only see in Black and White), no one can see time but we can feel and sense the effect of time. Time has always been there since the start of the world but it never come into agreement to be managed by people through what we call Time Management. Time is always on the move, never stopping for a moment. But time is never selfish for the same 1 second that has just past is shared by all in the world. It is through time we see the truth, it is through time we see results and it is through time we see love. Time has always been there and will always be. Observing and Understanding the greatness in each and every one of us.

As the whole world passes by, I am just like old man time, always quietly trying to observe and understand people. When you need time to think about things, I will be around, just like my blog says it all, let me be your shelter. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived; happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all the others, including love.

One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island paradise until the last possible moment. When the island was almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help.

Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?"
Richness answered, " I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be no room for you anywhere."

Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel.
Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please."
"I can't help you", Vanity said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."

Next, Love saw Sadness passing by.
Love said, "Sadness, please let me go with you."
Sadness answered, "Love, I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."

Then, Love saw Happiness.
Love cried out, " Happiness, please take me with you."
But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn't hear Love calling to him. Love began to cry.

Then, she heard a voice say, "Come Love, I will take you with me." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder.

Love then found Knowledge and asked, "Who was it that helped me?"
"It was Time", Knowledge answered.
"But why did Time help me when no one else would?", Love asked.

Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered,
"Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

Learning to Let Go

Was chatting with Vincent on MSN and we were on the topic of letting go of some things in life. Vincent shared with me a very interesting short story which I like to share with the rest of the readers.

Once there were 2 monks, and elder monk and a younger monk who were on the way to a village. In order to get to the village, they need to cross a river. The water level in the river is up to thigh deep and there is no bridge across the river.

As they reached the river bank, they saw a young lady who wanted to cross the river but she don't wish to get wet. The elder monk approach her and offer to carry her across the river. The elder monk carried the young lady across the river, the elder monk thought of nothing but the younger monk was pondering and thinking.

After crossing the river, the lady thanked the elder monk and left. At that moment, the younger monk just couldn't control his doubt any longer and asked the elder monk, "You are a monk, how can you carry the lady?"

The elder monk says, "I already let go of her and you're still carrying her."

Some time, it is all in the mind, if the mind truly had learnt to let go, there will always be peace from within.

How is Thanksgiving like in US?

Happened to see Ian's blog with his belated Thanksgiving wishes to all. It just inspired me to share my first and only Thanksgiving experience in the States.

But first of all, I have to agree with Ian that we should treat each day as special as they were and be thankful. We don't need specify date for Mother's Day, Father's day or Valentine Day or even Thanksgiving so long that we can take and treat each day unique as they were. We should show love and concern to our parents, our love one and give thanks for each passing day, not only on specify day.

Ok, just to share an insight on what Thanksgiving means to the American. Thanksgiving is one of the BIG three official holidays in the States. First is 1st Jan - New Year Day, follow by 4th July - Independence Day and the last one being Thanksgiving which falls on the 4th Thursday in the month of Nov.

Usually, Americans or at least the people in the state that I was staying in, don't celebrate holidays except the Big three holidays. It is usually then they will take block leave or at least take the whole week off during these 3 holidays.

The culture in the State, the people are very family oriented but even so, by an early age when the children are in their teens, ready for college, the parents wish that the teenages will be independent and go out and live on their own. People will just get busy with their own affair and so on. So this is the part where Thanksgiving is season of getting together. People will put things aside and get together as a family on Thanksgiving to have dinner. It is really a nice and cozy holiday spreading the spirit of getting together, sharing, caring and love. :)

Huggables

For those who know me well enough and had visited my home won't be surprise that I do keep huggables plush toys by my bedside. Most of them are gifts from others. They are what keep me accompany in my house since I'm staying alone.

Just to share some photos of the little zoo that I have in my house.

My newest addition, cute little giraffe given by Jamie.

My turtle family, starting with Xiao Gui, Zhong Gui and Da Gui.

My Eeyore family

My pair of Korean Kissing Bears (This pair of bears is really cute. When the male bear kisses the female bear, her cheek will light up and say "I Love You")

My Sugar Bear and Happy Feet Penguin

My Green Tea Cat, Koloa Bear and Brown Bear

Happy Thanksgiving to All

How can I forgot about this important holiday. I was in my office now, looking at today's day and date and remembered that Thanksgiving falls on the 4th Thursday of November which is today.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Singapore but I can always remember the first time when I celebrated it was in 2004 when I was in Gurnee, IL, US. It is one of the most important holiday to the Americans.

Just like to spread this thanksgiving spirit with all readers and viewers to my blog. Happy Thanksgiving. :)

In case people might wonder of the origin of Thanksgiving. Here are some facts from Wikipedia.

Just another quick note, I didn't realise how time flies, 3 years ago at this time, I was in US doing my Training and Attachment Programme (TAP). This is marks the 3 anniversary of knowing my branch of trainees who had gone for this TAP programme. Really memorable...

Early Spirit of Giving

I am really thankful that Jamie is on leave these few days as I can meet her up and have a chat to take my mind off things. She is going back to work on 12th December after her maternity leave is over.

We met up at Plaza Singapura and we did our dinner at Crystal Jade and we continue to do some shopping. I got myself a new belt and a new bag to suit my current range of clothings.

One sweet thing that Jamie did was to give me an early Christmas present. It was put inside those nice little Christmas sock. I was on my way back and decided to open it. It is a cute looking giraffe with big eyes. It really put a smile on my face and take all the trouble that I have today away. I am thankful that she is around to keep me company, if not, I guess I will be really bored.

Same Rainy Sky in Oz and Singapore

Just read on Ian's blog that it is raining in Australia now and it looks like to same wet weather here in Singapore.

I didn't report to work today because I am not feeling really well. Maybe because I didn't sleep well last night. Some how, the weather can sense my gloomy mood and have been raining and cold since morning.

Hope that things will be better tomorow.

Yet another Sleepless Night

Surprising. The time now is 2:03am and I can't get to sleep. A lot of things are on my mind now I guess. Things that are really troubling me... Not that I'm hungry or what, just that my mind is full. Not sure if I should take a walk to help me to sleep...

Act of Love and their Meaning

Nothing better to start a brand new day with another article on Love and Relationship. Enjoy...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy;

love does not parade itself, it is not puffed up;

does not behave rudely, does not seek its own,

is not provoked, thinks no evil,

does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

bear all things, believes all things,

hopes all things, endures all things."

"Love Shall Never Fail."

When you love, it is not for you to be understood but for you to understand;
not for you to take but for you to be taken; to listen not to dictate;
to sacrifice and not to demand; not to count or measure but to love.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll know that you miss someone very much when every time you think of that person, your heart beats faster. And just a quick warm "Hello" from that person calm you down...

Bottomline : you might have fallen for that person, just that you have not realise or refuse to admit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't be too good I will miss you. Don't be too caring, I might like you.
Don't be too sweet, I might fall for you. It's hard for me to love you when you won't love me after all...

Bottomline : A person who makes me loves him/her is actually a person who loves me more than I love him/her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If someone comes into your life and becomes a part of you but for some reasons he couldn't stay, don't cry too much... just be glad that your paths crossed and somehow he made you happy even for a while.

Bottomline : Time will tell, If he's yours he will come back

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't throw your back to love when it's already in front of you, don't drive it away from you because if you did, someday you'll think again why you let love fly away when it was once next to you.

Bottomline : Treasure the one who loves you, it's not easy to find a person who loves you. it's always more valuable to have a sincere heart.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The greatest regrets in our lives are the risks we did not take. If you think something will make you happy, go for it. Remember that we pass this way only once.

Bottomline : Time don't wait. If you think you might have found the right one, treasure him/her. Don't let he/she go away. Don't let fear hold you back. Give it a try else you might regret later... No one other than yourself knows what can truly make you happy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two tear drops were floating down the river. One teardrop said to the other,"I'm the teardrop of a girl who loved a man and lost him. Who are you?"... "I'm the teardrop of the man who regret letting a girl go..."

Bottomline : Nobody will sympathise a person who constantly let chances passes by without making any efforts to salvage. We normally don't realise how important our loved and closed ones are until they left us, we'll start reminiscences which results misery. Lost time is NEVER gained again. Even impossible says... I - M - POSSIBLE!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are so many stars in the sky but only some are radiant enough to catch your attention. Among those that you chose to ignore is that one star which is willing to continue shining for you, even if your glance remains elsewhere.

Bottomline :
Phrase 1 : The present person who you are with for the time being may/may not be the one you truly love.
Phrase 2 : should a person who knows that he/she can't be with you for the time being and yet still continue to love you wholeheartedly for what you are is touching.
Think about it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's so funny how we set qualifications for the right person to love, while at the back of our minds we know that the person we truly love will always be an exception.

Bottomline : We are critical especially to the one we like or love because we want them to be the best, constantly seeking for perfection, which should be worked out by both parties in a relationship and not one party alone to shoulder the burden.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Love can make you happy although often times it hurts. But love is only special if you give it to which it's worth.

Bottomline : If you found someone who truly appreciates you, He/she deserves more of your love.

How to Know If You Are In Love?

The start of a new Week. The start of a new article on Love and Relationship. Enjoy...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to Know If You Are In Love

What, then, is this elusive thing called love that everyone so desperately needs? Sometimes, we sort of like this girl because she is beautiful? Or the girl likes him because he is handsome? But this kind of "Cinderella Syndrome" when the girl is waiting on her Prince Charming, is not real love. It is better known as "infatuation", and there is a vast difference between it and real love. Here, we help you to differentiate and find out if you are really in love and not just infatuation.

Infatuation

Infatuation is a feeling; real love involves a commitment also. Infatuation is just love of emotion. Real love, though, is love of devotion. Only the emotions are affected in infatuation, but in real love both the emotions and the will are involved. Next, a person "fall into" infatuation, but "grows into" real love. Guys, have you ever seen a girl who was so beautiful that you thought you'd faint? This is infatuation! It is based totally on physical attraction; often you don't know much in-depth about the person you so-called love. Thus, infatuation is mostly biological. Also remember, never tell a girl you love her, unless you are willing to marry her.

Then, infatuation is basically selfish where real love is basically selfless. Infatuation is more interested in satisfying yourself and the "feeling" than it is in the other person. Real love is primarily interested in the other person. It seeks to give instead of get... Love unselfishly seeks the highest good for the other person. Lastly, infatuation is weakened by time and separation where real love is strengthened by time and separation. This does not mean that there will be no pain in separation. On the contrary, there is great pain in separation if you are truly in love.

Love

Now you know what is infatuation, we will go on to discuss about the details of a true love.

Love is patient. The word translated "patient" means to wait patiently for the fulfillment of expectations. When you have diffculty dating this girl and she does not want to come out, if you truly love her, you will not complain and blame her, you must look at the situation from her point of view - maybe she is having some problems which prevented her from coming out. You must react to it with patience and understanding. Next, have you ever met someone you liked so much that you wanted to push the relationship and make it progress faster? Sure you have! Love, however, is willing to give a relationship time to grow at a natural pace. It does not push but is willing to wait for the relationship to grow at a rate that is satisfactory to both parties. Love is Kind. Love seeks to encourage and build up others. It respects the feelings and emotions of others.. It finds its greatest satisfaction in making others happy.

You can do the following:

Give one another things such as gifts and encouragment cards.
Compliment one another. Magnify the other party's strength.
Listen to one another. Pay close attention to what each of you has to say and make each other feel that what each says is important.
Treat one another special in public. Compliment and encourage one another sincerely in the presence of others.

Love is Not Jealous
Jealousy usually indicates an insecure and immature heart. Love wants the best for others, but jealousy is possessive. Jealous is reflected in the childish statement, "If he is going to talk to her, then he can just forget about me!" Often, one person wants to totally possess the other and to restrict her relationships with others.

Love is Not Brag
Love is not a windbag and is not anxious to impress. Often a guy will brag to a girl, trying to impress her so that she will like him. A truly great person, however, does not need to exalt himself! Others will exalt him.

Love is Not Arrogant
Love is not conceited, boastful, cocky, or stuck-up. Love, instead, is humble and has a servant attitude. Sometimes, a guy may come across to a girl with an "I can take you or leave you" attitude. His demeanour implies, "You ought to be thankful that somebody as neat as me is dating you." Of course, this is not love.

Love always covers
This word cover means to pass over in silence, to keep confidential. Love is patient with the faults of others. It doesn't critcise and broadcast to the world the faults of others. Love is there even when it knows the other is not perfect.

Love always Perseveres
Love always stands its ground and holds out. It will outlast anything. It will even love in the face of unreturned love. Real love will last though all sorts of trials, tribulations and stresses.

Love is Not Provoked
This means that love has a long fuse. It does not become irritated and angry. It is not easily offended. Love does not seek its own. This is the heart of love. Love is other-centred rather than self-centred. Love says, "I love you, I want to give to you." Selfishness says, "I love you, I want you!"

Love does not act unbecomingly
This means that love does not behave disgracefully, dishourably or indecently. It does not embarrass others by its action. It is characterised by tact and sensitivity. This also means that love should have good manners. Be sure to do little things like opening doors for your girl, or offering her your arm when you walk together.

Love is forgiving
Lastly, this is a MUST for a successful love story. If a guy is not willing to forgive and forget when his girlfriend is one hour late, he is not exhibiting love. Love doesn't hold grudges when it has been wronged. It doesn't remain resentful. Remember this: Love forgets past failures and sins.

Backdate for 16th and Update for 17th Nov

It is a crappy title but what the heck.

16th Nov 2007

Just a backdate on what I did yesterday. I didn't report to lab as I wanted to take some time to rest and relax before hitting the road again. I did quite a lot of things yesterday and spend quite a bit of money. First, I went to Creative Warehouse sale to trade-in my old and faulty MP3 player for a Creative Zen which can play MP3, view photos and play video, now that is a cool device. :) Then I met Zhong Yi (my batch of TAP trainees who went to US together in 2004) for lunch.

At around 1:30pm, I head off to City Hall to collect some prints and do some accessories shopping for my newly bought Creative Zen at Marina Square's Creative outlet. Next I went to Lucky Plaza at Orchard and got myself a new jacket from Samuel and Kelvin. I quite like the earthly colour which makes it easy to match. I wanted to get it at Marina Square outlet but they don't have L size. They called and checked that they still have one piece of the jacket that I'm looking for in L size at their Lucky Plaza outlet.

After buying the jacket, I head to Kinokuniya to take a look at books. I got time to spare as I am meeting Jamie at Centrepoint at 5pm. So I walked around the bookshop and gotten myself a book. I met up Jamie at 5:00pm and we shopped around a bit as we wait for Alvin, Ben and Charlotte. We are meeting for a pizza dinner as I got a free regular pizza couple and it is expiring soon. Jamie and I didn't realise that the Pizza Hut branch at Centrepoint had closed down and we have to change to Plaza Singapura instead.

We met up, had a spicy pizza dinner and move on to Gelare for some ice-cream before heading home. I was out for more than 12 hours and I feel really drained out. But it was fun as we are able to catch up with one another.

17th Nov 2007

I was meddling with my new "toy" for the whole of last night, learning how to load in songs, videos and photos. I continue playing with it this morning. It is really cool.

Next, I waited for Ben to call me as he said that he will show me his new house which is still under renovation. At around 11am, Ben called me up and asked me to get ready, he said that Charlotte will be going to gym and ask if I am interested to join her. I haven't been hitting the gym since one month back when I stopped everything just to prepare for exams, it is high time for me to get my physical back in shape.

Ben and Charlotte shown me to their new house which is quite near to Fort Road where my sister stayed. The flat belongs to Charlotte's grandfather. It is small but cozy. Although it is still under renovation, the master bed room and study room is almost done. The layout is really nice, the concept is interesting. After a quick lunch, Charlotte and I went to the gym at Seletar Country Club while Ben went back home to do some studies for his pilot's training.

The gym workout was great, I haven't run for a long time and my stamina and strength dropped. OMG... After that, Charlotte send me back and here I am, blogging it down. :)

Must really thank Ben and Charlotte for showing me their new house, driving me around and also for the gym. Thanks alot. ;)

Of Love and Time

Continuation of my Love Series. Enjoy

Are You In Love With Someone?

When you are together with that special someone, you pretend to ignore that person.
But when that special someone is not around, you might look around to find them.
At that moment, you are in love.

Although there is someone else who always makes you laugh,
your eyes and attention might go only to that special someone.
Then, you are in love.

Although that special someone was supposed to have called you long back, to let you know of their safe arrival,
your phone is quiet.
You are desperately waiting for the call!
At that moment, you are in love.

If you are much more excited for one short e-mail from
that special someone than other many long e-mails,
you are in love.

When you find yourself as one who cannot erase all the
messages in your answering machine because of one message
from that special someone, you are in love.

When you get a couple of free movie tickets, you would
not hesitate to think of that special someone.
Then, you are in love.

You keep telling yourself, "that special someone is just a friend", but you realize that you can not avoid that person's special attraction. At that moment, you are in love.

Time

There is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.
It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out ALL OF IT, of course!!!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off, as lost,
whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.
It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow."
You must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!
The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE-SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have!
And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special,
special enough to spend your time.

And remember that time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present!!!

Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed.
They make you smile and encourage you to succeed.
They lend an ear, they share a word of praise,
and they always want to open their heart to us.

Lesson about Love and Life

Exams is finally over for me. As per promised, I got more articles about Love and Relationship and Life to share with all. So hold on as Dr Hitch is back.

Alright, alright, I am no Dr Hitch because I am not sucessful in my own love life, but I love to share my thoughts about it looking from other perspectives for I had once loved before. Enjoy. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It hurts to love someone
and not be loved in return,
but what is most painful is
to love someone and never finding the courage
to let the person know how you feel.

Maybe God wants us to meet
a few wrong people
before meeting the right one
so that when we finally
meet the right person,
we should know how to be grateful for that gift.

Love is when you take away the feeling,
the passion, the romance -
and you find out you still care for that person.

A sad thing about life
is when you meet someone
that means a lot to you,
only to find out in the end,
that it was never bound to be
and you just have to let go.

When one door of happiness closes,
another opens but often we look
so long at the closed door
that we don't see the one
which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend
is the one you could sit on a porch,
and swing with,
never say a word,
and then walk away
feeling like that was the best
conversation you've had.

It's true that we don't know
what we've got until we lose it,
but it's also true that we don't know
what we've been missing until it arrives.

Giving someone all your love
is never an assurance that they'll love you back,
don't expect love in return,
just wait for it to grow in their
hearts but if it doesn't,
be content it grew in yours.

There are things you love to hear
but you would never hear
it from the person from whom
you would like to hear it,
but don't be deaf to hear it from the person
who says it with his heart.

Never say goodbye
when you still want to try,
never give up when
you still feel you can take it,
never say you don't love that person
anymore when you can't let go.

Love comes to those who still hope,
even though they've been disappointed,
to those who still believe,
even though they've been betrayed,
need to love those who still love
even though they've been hurt before.

It takes a minute
to have a crush on someone,
an hour to like someone
and a day to love someone,
but it takes a lifetime
to forget someone.

Don't go for looks,
it can deceive,
don't go for wealth,
even that fades away.
Go for someone
who makes you smile
because only a smile
makes a dark day seem bright.
Hope you find that person.

There are moments in life
when you really miss someone
that you want to pick them
from your dreams
and hug them for real.
Hope you dream of that someone.

Dream what you want to dream,
go where you want to go,
be what you want to be,
cause you have only one life
and one chance to do all the
things you want in life.

May you have enough happiness
to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy
and enough money to buy me gifts

Always put yourself in other's shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you,
it probably hurts the person, too.

A careless word may kindle strife,
a cruel word may wreck a life,
a timely word may level stress,
a loving word may heal and bless.

The beginning of love
is to let those we love
be perfectly themselves,
and not to twist them with our own image,
otherwise, we love only
the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

The happiest of people
don't necessarily have the best of everything
they just make the most of everything
that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry,
those who hurt, those who have searched
and those who have tried.
For only they can appreciate
the importance of people
who have touched their lives.

Love starts with a smile,
develops with a kiss and ends with a tear.

The brightest future
will always be based on a forgotten past,
you can't go on well in life
until you let go of your past
failures and heartaches.

When you were born,
you were crying
and everyone around you was smiling,
live your life so that when you die,
you're smiling
and everyone around you is crying.

The Aftermath of... Exams

After a good shower, taking my time to unwind. I can't believe that I still feel so energetic even though I slept less than 4 hours last night I think. I remembered that I was like taking a cat's nap, waking up every 1 hour or so. I woke up at around 5:00am and reached NTU around 8:10am this morning which is really early as my paper will start at 9:30am.

After the paper, I wanted to go straight back home, but I called Jamie up and we have lunch together with her husband Alvin at Jurong Point. After that, we spent the whole afternoon chatting over tea at HarbourFront.

Around evening time, we parted and I went to PSS for my first Monthly meeting. I was the youngest council member there and man I was like so blur. Felt really bad about that.

After that, I just took a MRT home and here I am, reporting live on my laptop with my bowl of noodles in front of me as I did not had a proper dinner.

All Over... in 2 hours and 40 minutes

After months, weeks, days, hours and minutes of anticipation and preparation, restlessness and frustration, sleepless and impatience. The day has finally came. My first and last paper for this semester which is also the last paper for my Master studies. This is the first time in my life that I did so many past year papers in order to prepare for my exams.

My fate was pretty much sealed when I sat in the exam hall and when I start writing. But I just couldn't care less, just give it my best shot. When I start writing, I was like a speed demon on the road, my mind, eyes, hands won't stop. I just keep writing and punching in those numbers into the calculator. I guess the guy which is next table to me was pretty shock as I wrote and turn the pages of my answer script like nobody business, just like how Kira (in Death Note) was writing those names of the criminals into the Death Note.

I timed myself in order to be able to complete everything on time and in 2 hours, I was done. I spend the next 40 minutes to verify before I decided to leave the exams hall. I turn without looking back because I knew I had done my best and I leave it in the hand of the Divine...

Can't Sleep - Sign of Stress

I am suffering from my pre-exams-stress-can't-sleep-syndrome. Geez...
I got less than 6 hours to rest and I don't want to drink beer to get myself to sleep... I'm tired yet I can't sleep. Argh...
Have been lying on my bed for the last 1 hour and can't put myself to rest. My mind is all blank now, blank like a sheet.

Just got to tell myself, it all will be over in 12 hours time. Endure. All the way. Nitez.

Restlessness... Impatience...

One last post before I attempt the last past year paper that I have. A lot of thoughts are on my mind now which makes focusing really difficult. I guess I waited too long for this last exam of mine which makes me really restless and impatient. I was anticipating for this exam 2 months back, I started preparation 1 month back and it will be over in less than 24 hours. I guess my neck is had grown longer than a giraffe if you asked me...

Man, I'm really tired... *Sigh*

Alrighty, enough of my rant. Wish me luck. Cheerz.

How To Be A Better Couple

This is my last installment for the Love and Relationship series that I got to share. I will try to post more when I got more inspirations or happened to read some interesting article.

For this topic, I don't think I am in a position to talk about it because I am still very much single. But just to share the article that I have on hand with my readers, I think I will just post it. Hopefully those couples will find it meaningful. For those who are single, hope that this article will be useful for you (or should I say us, hehe...) in the future.

After this post, I might not have time to post so often as my exam is like just a step away. Do drop by once a while and I will resume posting after the 15th of November which is the first and last day of my exams. Wish me luck. :)

Shouldn't keep you waiting, here is the article. Enjoy...

10 Steps to enjoying each other better...

1. Be realistic about each other

Don't try to turn your partner into something he or she is not. Let's face it, guys. There is only 1 Pamela Anderson in the world. Give your gal a break and understand that her physical appearance is NOT going to change overnight with the help of a few facials or treatments. And ladies, Brad Pitt has already been taken, so you are gonna have to do with what your guy is like! Chill out, love each other for what you are. There is more to your partner than what meets the eye.

2. Always talk things out

Now guys, I know this is not your favourite pastime or mode of resolving issues, but you know what? This works with the gals. Don't make assumptions about each other's feelings. Learn to express youself better so that your partner understands what you are angry about, or hurt about, or even happy about! When you stop talking to each other from the heart, it's the beginning of the end.

3. Do stuff together

Make an effort to do things together. Do some sports or involve yourselves in some shared activities; something both of you enjoy or are interested in. It could be as simple as watching movies together, or just strolling hand-in-hand down Orchard Road. Watch soccer with him once in a while though the green patch on TV puts you to sleep in 3 seconds. And guys, do give in if your gal asks for another day at window-shopping, rather than suggest that she go out with her girlfriends for "that sort of activities" instead. If you are spending more time with your friends than your partner, it's a warning sign that you are drifting apart!!!

4. Meet each other halfway

If he agrees to throw out that rotten T-shirt with the "The Rock" print, you shouldn't kick up much of a fuss. If he asks you to keep your room tidy. There's got to be a little giving and taking in a relationship. So learn to meet each other halfway.

5. Show your love

Buy her flowers or candy or perfume every now and then. Even if you have been together for 5 years. It's wonderful to continue showing someone that you care for him or her. Cook him a special meal, paint him a Valentine's Day card. Knit him mini-socks he can't wear (like for decoration purposes). Buy him a packet of milk for breakfast, or pack his wardrobe for him... so he knows you can still be romantic and loving despite having been together for quite a while.

6. Respect each other

Stop making jokes about her hair or skin, or whatever it is you love to laugh at. Ask yourself if she thinks its funny. And if he has an inferiority complex about his height, stop ogling at tall guys and make him feel worse! Love is about respecting each other's feelings and being sensitive to each other at all times.

7. Bury the past

Stop bringing up the past. Gals... don't bring up the happy things about you and your ex to your guy. It would just make him jealous or unhappy. And guys, don't talk about the happy times that you had with your ex or mention about her in you every other sentence as it would make your gal feel unhappy and she might think that you are saying all this because you are going to get back with your ex or not interested in her anymore.

8. Sit in your jealousy

All of us go through spells of insecurity at the beginning of the relationship, but don't translate that insecurity into jealousy. If you are going through your partner's mail and cupboard, and eavesdropping on conversations, you know something is wrong - with you!!! Jealousy is like a poison that slowly spreads through the relationship before finally killing it. Trust your partner; love has to have trust in it.

9. Keep your commitments to each other

If your partner is standing you up all the time and cancelling dates and breaking promises, you need to talk! If you are in a relationship, make your partner your priority and don't disappoint them if you can help it. It's really terrible when someone promises to take you to dinner, and then calls to cancel it. Don't make promises you can't keep. If your partner starts to feel that he/she is not important enough to you, you may just lose him/her.

10. Be honest

Honesty is not scowling at how awful she looks first thing in the morning, or telling him that he has the biceps of a fly! When we say "be honest", we mean expressing your feelings clearly, not being bitingly cruel. When you are hurt, say so, and when you are angry, tell him/her, without getting hysterical. If you can't be honest with your partner, who can you be honest with? Love is also about honesty, and a relationship when no honesty exists probably isn't worth it!

Super Import Nights

Came back from Singapore Expo about 3 hours ago after visiting the Super Import Nights event. It is a car show event showcasing cars and accessories. I went together with my old time friend James aka Ah Zheng for this event just to have a look. Well, I did promised Elynn that I will be going for this event if she is there. I am not a good event photographer but I just took a couple of shots just to share with all. Cheerz. :)

Beautiful Seed

As some might have realised, I have changed the song on my blog to one of my favourite from Corrinne May's latest Album, Beautiful Seed. The song is the same name as the album and is really meaningful if you pay attention to the lyrics.

Anyway, just to share with my readers the thoughts that Corrinne May had put into when she is writing the song, I will just extract it from her blog.

Quote :
Beautiful Seed

I think people often forget how the smallest, most seemingly insignificant things can have such beautiful possibilities. All it takes is one person to make a difference in this world. People like Mother Teresa, Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. testify to this fact. But often, we are so afraid to try, to speak up, or to make a difference.

I named the album and the song ‘Beautiful Seed’ because I think that a seed is a wonderful metaphor for our lives. We are all like seeds. Seeds grow unseen in the soil and then sprout, and some seed become the biggest, most majestic trees and others grow to eventually bear wonderful fruit, and yet others, grow to provide shade. We are like trees. When we are in our mother’s womb, no one can see us growing, but we are there. And all the potential for our lives is present in that moment, small as we are at that point in our lives, we are who we are now because of what we’ve gone through. And just knowing that, makes me sad to read about the increasing numbers of abortions that occur. People have forgotten that all the potential for life comes from something small, seemingly insignificant, seemingly lifeless.

Recently, I read about how scientists managed to grow a date palm plant from a 2000 year old seed. How amazing.

Rain - The Same Mood I'm Feeling Now

It has been raining since the start of the morning. As of again, I am not going in to office today as I wanted to do some revision for my exams. Somehow, my mood is not in the condition, just like the weather... rainy and gloomy...

Listen to Love

Despite the fact that I am feeling out of love right now, but still... I will like to share a story about love and relationship to be added to my collection.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are times when we are timid and shy about expressing the love we feel.

For fear of embarrassing the other person, or ourselves, we hesitate to say the actual words "I Love You." So we try to communicate the idea in other words. We say 'Take Care' or 'Don't drive too fast' or 'Be Good.' But really, these are just other ways of saying 'I Love You,' 'You are important to me,' 'I care what happens to you,' 'I don't want you to get hurt.'

We are somethimes very strange people. The only thing we want to say, and the one thing that we should say, is the one thing we don't say. And yet, because the feeling is so real, and the need to say it is so strong, we are driven to use other words and signs to say what we really mean. And many times the meaning never gets communicated at all and the other person is left feeling unloved and unwanted. Therefore, we have to LISTEN FOR LOVE in the words that people are saying to us.

Sometimes the explicit words are necessary, but more often, the manner of saying things is even more important. A joyous insult carries more affection and love within the sentiments which are expressed sincerely. An impulsive hug says I LOVE YOU even though the words might be saying very different. Any expression of a person's concern for another says I love you. Sometimes the expression is clumsy, sometimes even cruel. Sometimes we must look and listen very intently for the love that contains. But it is often there, beneath the surface. A mother may nag her son constantly about his grades or cleaning his room. The son may hear only the nagging, but if he listens carefully, he will hear the love underneath the nagging. His mother wants him to do well, to be successful. Her concern and love for her son unfortunately emerge in her nagging. But it is love all the same. A daughter comes home way past her curfew, and her father confronts her with angry words. The daughter may hear only the anger, but if she listen carefully, she will hear the love under the anger. "I was worried about you," the father is saying. 'Because I care about you and I love you. You are important to me.' We say I love you in many ways - with birthday gifts, and little notes, with smiles and sometimes with tears.

Sometimes we show our love by just keeping quiet and not saying a word, at other times by speaking out, even brusquely. We show out love sometimes by impulsiveness. Many times we have show our love by forgiving someone who has not listened to the love we have tried to express. The problem in listening for love is that we don't always understand the language of love which the other person is using. A girl may use tears or emotions to say what she wants to say, and her boyfriend may not understand her because he expects her to be talking his language. Thus, we have to force ourselves to really listen for love.

The problem with out world is that people rarely listen to each other. They hear the words, but they don't listen to the actions that accompany the words or the expression on the face. Or people listen only for rejection or misunderstanding. They do not see the love that is there just beneath the surface, even if the words are angry. We have to listen for love in those around us. If we listen intently we will discover that we are a lot more loved than we realise.

Listen for love and we will find that the world is a very loving place, after all. LOVE is a happy thing. It makes us laugh. It makes us sing. It makes us sad. It makes us cry. It makes us seek the reason why. It makes us take. It makes us give. Above all else it makes us LIVE. It is not the presence or absence of people that makes the difference because a person need not be lonely even if he is alone. Sometimes it is good to be alone. But that does not make us lonely. It is not a matter of being present WITH someone. It is a matter of being present TO someone. If you love someone, tell them. Always to say what you mean. Never be afraid to express yourself. Seize the day and have no regrets. The difference between expressing love and having regrets is that the regrets may stay around.

All will be gone...

Here I am, sitting in the Spinelli at Peninsular, penning down my thoughts (on my notebook). I was feeling rather upset as all my favourite shops around this area are all moving out...

First is the Colour lab which I frequent very often. It is moving to Chinatown. Next is Riceball (a photography bookstore) at Adephi. It is closing its branch at Adephi and moving over to Funan. It mean the original shop at Adephi is more spacious and quiet and I like the environment. Next is a coffeeshop at the foot of Fort Canning. It has moved out to Hong Lim Area. I believe all these move are due to the increase in the property rental.

Sigh... This place is getting more and more expensive to stay in...

Crumbed Fish, Spicy Popcorn Chicken and Kimchi

It is been long since I post anything about cooking. For those who know me knew that I am staying alone and no one cooks for me. I usually settle my meals outside or I can cook for myself.

I really love to cook ever since I pick up the skill while I was in US in late 2004 and early 2005. I mean my housemate (who is staying with me in US) never complain about my cooking so I can presume that my skills are still acceptable. Hahaha...

I was in Cold Storage the other day and I gotten some microwaveable food such as 6 pieces of Crumbed Fish and a bag of Spicy Popcorn Chicken and since I had been staying at home for the whole of today to do my revision, I decided to cook a good dinner for myself.

I cooked some rice and steam some kimchi. At the same time, I put the crumbed fish and popcorn chicken into the microwave and here it is... A meal for me. It is not much but at least is my first proper meal for today. :)

So... It has Begin...

Was meant to post this last night but I was feeling really tired after my evening lecture that I head straight to bed after reaching home. The lecture last night marks the end of the M7802 Engineering Measurements lecture. By right there should be another lecture next week but next Thursday is Deepavali which is a public holiday hence the lecture is cancelled. So officially, I am less than 2 weeks from my exams and man my neck is getting long just by looking at it. Argh...

I am now at home studying instead of travelling down to NTU because the travelling time to and fro takes 3 hours and I don't want any disturbance as my lab can be quite noisy at times.

Ok, enough of my ranting. Time to hit my books again. Cheerz.
