1 down, 9 more to go

Finally, completed my first ICT from 20th Feb 2008 to 27th Feb 2008. It is really an interesting experience as this is the first time I go for my reservist since I ORD-ed on 9th December 2000. Maybe a quick recapped of what happened for the last few days during my In-Camp Training.

25th Feb 2008

All the reservist personnel have to book in at around 10:30pm last night because there is an IPPT test this afternoon. According to Directive, we need at least 7 hours of rest before any strenuous exercise. Anyway, around 11am, we had our first aid refresher course as some of the active medics from the medical center came to the auditorium to show us bandage dressing.

At around 1:30pm, we had our water parade before going for our IPPT at 3:30pm. I expected to have IPPT during this ICT and so I stop going for my gym session since 2/3 weeks back.

Anyway, I just put in my best effort for this IPPT but I still failed. In comparison with the results that I took last year at Maju Camp, I can see quite a bit of improvement. I think I just have to keep up with my gym regime and train a bit on my technique and I should be able to do better next time.

After our IPPT, I followed some of the reservist medics for a night off. We went to Lot 1 shopping mall and bought some beers and food back to camp and had a feast. It is really a fun night.

26th Feb 2008

Nothing much happening today except returning our BCS and MOP stores followed by a survey conducted during the afternoon about what we think about this ICT.

Oh, before I forgot, I was assigned my first medical coverage duty today. I was asked to do a medical cover for the company line IPPT session early in the morning with my fellow medic Frank. It has been long since I done any cover but it is good in the sense that I can finally contribute to my medical platoon.

27th Feb 2008

The last day of ICT. Not much today, just do some area cleaning and return the bunks to the contractors and finally... OUTPROCESS. Yes, that marks the end of my first ICT.

Anyway, following the out-processing, I followed a few of the medics (Frank, Seah, Kelvin, Ronnie, Chip and Gary) for a high-tea buffet at Goodwood Park Hotel. Ronnie drove me back to Sengkang area as he lived around Rivervale area. Really must thank Gary for the treat and also Ronnie for sending me back.

Well... that pretty much sum up my first ICT experience. But before I end this post, I will like to express my thanks to all the medics and also all the fellow reservists who were with me for the last 8 days. Let me go down the list of the medics' names that I can remember...

1. Frank Lee (He went to the same medic course with me during my active time, from the same platoon, platoon 1)
2. Liang
3. Seah (Seah also went through the same medic course with me and Frank, but he is from platoon 2)
4. Ronnie Ha (Ronnie also went through the same medic course with me and Frank, but he is from platoon 3)
5. Kelvin
6. Gary (APC Driver attached to medical platoon)
7. Heng
8. James
9. Ken
10. Leong C S
11. Anand
12. Glenn
13. Tai
14. Quek
15. Chan
16. Teng
17. Cavin Ho
18. 3SG Ronnie Ang (Medic Spec)
19. 3SG Ng Chip Soon (Senior Medic)

It is really great knowing them all even though we never spend a lot of time talking, but thanks for making my first ICT a memorable one. I think I will not defer my next ICT so that I can see them again to catch up.

But in the meantime, since I am back to the civilian world, time to catch up with what is missing. Hmm...
